Agency Access vs. Single-Owner Ad Accounts: What Happens If the Admin Loses Access?
Two Teams Face the Same Problem, but Their Account Structure Leads to Different Outcomes
The following is a hypothetical example created to illustrate the differences in account access management. It assumes the issue affects an individual administrator's user account—not the ad account or Business Portfolio itself. This scenario does not represent any real Casperacc customer.
Imagine two skincare brands with similar advertising budgets and teams of comparable size. Both are about to launch their biggest advertising campaign of the quarter.
Team A runs ads using an ad account that is managed entirely through the founder's personal Facebook profile. The Facebook Page, ad account, and payment method have all been under the control of a single person since the business was established.
Team B uses Agency Access through a service provider's Business Portfolio. The business is granted access to the ad account based on user roles, multiple team members are responsible for account management, and day-to-day operations are not tied exclusively to the founder's personal profile.
Now, suppose that one administrator from each team temporarily loses access to their account, and Meta requires identity verification or a security review before access can be restored. Situations like this can occur as part of Meta's security measures and do not necessarily mean the user has violated any policies.
The key difference between the two teams is not the severity of the issue—it's the account structure that supports the business when something goes wrong.
Point 1: Who Loses Access?
Team A has all critical permissions assigned to the founder's personal account. Team B, on the other hand, has multiple administrators with access granted according to their roles.
Point 2: Can Someone Else Continue Managing the Account?
With Team A, there may be no one else who can check the account status, adjust campaigns, or manage permissions while the founder is unable to access the account.
For Team B, if the issue affects only one administrator, another user with the appropriate permissions may still be able to continue managing the account.
Point 3: What Is Actually Affected?
For Team A, the primary issue is losing access to manage business assets because all permissions are concentrated in a single user account. This does not automatically mean that the Facebook Page, ad account, and payment method are all disabled at the same time.
Team B reduces the risk of losing access because account management is not tied to a single user profile. However, if the restriction affects the ad account or the Business Portfolio itself, other administrators may also be impacted.
Point 4: How Does Each Team Operate During the Review Process?
Team A may need to wait until the founder regains access or completes Meta's account recovery process before management can resume.
Team B, however, may still have another authorized administrator who can monitor the account and continue handling tasks that are not affected by the review.
This comparison assumes that the issue affects an individual administrator's user account, not the ad account or Business Portfolio itself. In this scenario, what helps Team B is its distributed access structure, with multiple authorized administrators sharing responsibilities. This is the account structure illustrated in this example and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every Agency Access setup provides the same level of continuity.
What Agency Access Helps With—and What It Doesn't
Casperacc provides Agency Access through our Business Portfolio, allowing businesses to access and manage Meta Ad Accounts without relying solely on a single individual's personal profile, as in Team A's example. Access permissions are assigned based on the scope of each service agreement. However, Agency Access does not prevent account restrictions or exempt businesses from Meta's security reviews and verification processes.
